From Shart to Smart.

We don’t waste waste.

At Shart Farms, we’re redefining animal nutrition through a fully sustainable, zero-waste approach. Our core product—Black Soldier Fly Larvae (BSFL)—is raised using food waste that would otherwise end up in landfill, transforming it into high-protein feed for pets and livestock. But our commitment to the environment goes far beyond the bugs. Our model ensures consistent quality, ethical sourcing, and minimal environmental impact.

Our operations are partially powered by solar energy- our goal is to be fully powered by solar energy by the end of 2025. We use harvested rainwater for breeding and processing, minimising our footprint while maximising efficiency. Every aspect of our production is designed to benefit the planet: from the larvae themselves to their nutrient-rich byproduct, which is repurposed into natural soil enhancers for gardens and agriculture.

We believe sustainability isn’t a feature—it’s the foundation. By closing the loop on waste and harnessing nature’s systems, Shart Farms offers a scalable, regenerative solution to global feed and farming challenges. Our model supports biodiversity, reduces emissions, and empowers communities to rethink how food, feed, and farming intersect.

Shart Farms isn’t just a business—it’s a movement toward smarter agriculture, cleaner ecosystems, and a future where nothing goes to waste.

  • Rich in calcium and phosphorus, crucial for strong eggshells and bone health.
  • Contains vitamins A, B, and E, which aid vision, metabolism, and immune function.
  • Antimicrobial properties may enhance gut health and immune response.
  • Highly digestible and suitable for all life stages.
  • Chickens are omnivorous foragers, evolved to scratch and peck for insects
  • BSFL stimulate instinctive feeding behaviours, reducing boredom and stress
  • Ideal for free-range and backyard flocks
  • Protein-rich (40–50% dry weight), supporting growth, reproduction, and immune function.
  • High in fat (20–30%), providing essential fatty acids for skin, scales, and brain development.
  • Excellent calcium source (2–3%), vital for bone and muscle health.
  • Contains vitamins A, D, K, iron, and zinc, supporting vision, blood health, and healing.
  • In the wild, lizards consume insects, worms, fruits, and vegetation, depending on species.
  • Lizards exhibit two main foraging modes:
    • Sit-and-wait predators (e.g., chameleons) ambush prey.
    • Active foragers (e.g., monitor lizards) search continuously for insects and small animals.
  • BSFL are soft-bodied and easy to digest, ideal for insectivorous lizards.
  • Their high calcium-to-phosphorus ratio helps prevent metabolic bone disease.
  • Feeding BSFL can reduce stress and improve skin and scale health.
  • Balanced protein and fat content supports energy, growth, and metabolic function.
  • Omega-3 fatty acids promote healthy skin and aid shedding.
  • Calcium-phosphorus ratio of 2:1 is ideal for preventing bone disorders.
  • Fiber content aids digestion and reduces constipation.
  • BSFL replicate the insect prey many reptiles naturally hunt.
  • Their nutrient density and digestibility make them suitable for a wide range of reptiles—from geckos to turtles
